Apptainer on NVidia GPUs might require module to be loaded on host

As pointed out by @au7114, we are hitting this problem: https://github.com/apptainer/singularity/issues/1441.

An elegant solution would be a system-side fix, but in the meantime we can implement the workaround described in the Apptainer issue.
